A summer of sport

The 2025 Fifa Club World Cup took place in the USA in the summer of 2025. Beyond Hospitality needed to drive sales for the tournament’s hospitality packages in a competitive and shifting market. So, they did what any sports hospitality team would do, and contacted Soop!

The brief

Beyond Hospitality asked Soop to run a location based marketing campaign to help sell hospitality packages at each tournament game. The campaign needed to slot into their wider marketing strategy and run for the duration of the competition. We designed a multi-channel, location-driven campaign which included digital display ads for broad visibility, keyword contextual ads and premium placements for high-intent engagement. This was supported by a large scale digital out of home campaign, where we advertised on digital billboards across Los Angeles.

Here’s who we targeted:

Club fans: Ads were placed around each participating club’s domestic matches leading up to the tournament. Home stadiums were geofenced to target loyal fans.

Corporate decision makers: Key business areas close to the tournament stadiums were targeted to reach decision-makers who were looking for corporate events.

Affluent local communities: Restaurants and high-value venues near stadiums targeted for affluent, experience-seeking audiences.

A pivot in strategy

At the start of the year, international ticket sales were sluggish due to changes in US tourism rules. People simply weren’t travelling to America. So, we pivoted the focus from global club fans to to US audiences and leaned heavily into corporate buyers, recognising that businesses were likely to purchase hospitality packages. This approach paid off and the campaign delivered strong huge commercial returns.

The results

The campaign resulted in:

  • $307,775 in total hospitality revenue generated
  • $93,000+ revenue in a single day during peak campaign activity
  • 3 x ROI on ticket sales

By combining smart location targeting with flexibility and human intervention, Soop turned a challenging sales environment into a huge success. The FIFA Club World Cup campaign proved how powerful location-based marketing can be when it’s aligned with real-world behaviour and business goals.
